The finance-operations ERP that finally shows a Shopify founder their real profit.

A single, self-serve, founder-priced platform that unifies real-time profit & loss, model-aware inventory, invoicing, tax, expenses, and shipping — with an AI operations copilot on top — for the tens of thousands of Shopify brands stitching together five to seven disconnected tools and still asking one question: am I actually making money?

02The Problem

Founders are flying blind — expensively

Three compounding failures turn a growing store into an anxious guessing game. Accountanics exists because all three are real, documented, and unsolved for the small founder.

§2.1

Fragmentation: the app-bloat tax

Heavier stores run 10+ apps with monthly spend quietly creeping past $400; 87% of merchants depend on at least one third-party app. Each app owns a slice of the truth — orders here, costs there, ad spend somewhere else — and none of them reconcile.

Merchants need consolidated tools rather than fragmented solutions.
§2.2

Profit-blindness: the number nobody can see

Only ~20% of seven- and eight-figure brands have an accurate sense of true profitability; as few as 10% correctly calculate gross margin. An estimated 70% of store owners underestimate true costs by 8–15%.

A founder who believes they earn 50% and actually earns 6% will scale ad spend, take on inventory debt, and hire — decisions that are rational at 50% and ruinous at 6%.
§2.3

The Pakistan-specific gap

Stripe doesn't support Pakistan-registered businesses. Sellers bridge through Payoneer (8 currencies, up to 3.5% FX). Finance Act 2025 introduced 1% / 2% withholding on digital / COD orders. Federal sales tax is 18%, but provincial services rates differ — Punjab 16%, Sindh 15–19.5%, ICT 15%.

No local tool natively reconciles Shopify + multi-currency payouts + COD + the new withholding regime in one system.
03Market Opportunity

A large, growing, under-tooled base

The opportunity has two layers: a massive global platform to build on, and a fast-growing, painfully under-served home market to launch into.

The launch market

Pakistan

Pakistan's e-commerce is growing fast but market-size figures vary 3–4× by methodology — we cite a range and name the discrepancy. The signal that matters is unambiguous: a Shopify seller base of ~44k stores growing 42% a year, with zero purpose-built finance-ops tooling.

Market thesis —we don't need a large share of a huge market. We need to be the obvious first install for a fast-growing base of Shopify founders whose exact pain — profit clarity under Pakistan's currency and tax reality — no incumbent addresses.

04Competitive Landscape

Everyone owns one pillar. Nobody owns the building.

We mapped the incumbents against the six finance-ops pillars a founder actually needs. The result is the clearest possible picture of the gap: the market is a set of vertical silos with no roof.

Analytics silo — profit tools only show margins

TrueProfit, GoProfit, Lifetimely, Triple Whale are volume-priced dashboards. None does inventory, tax, or invoicing.

Plumbing silo — connectors only move data

A2X and Link My Books decompose payouts into journal entries for QuickBooks/Xero — plumbing into a system you still have to operate.

Point-solution silo — inventory & tax only do one job

Inventory Planner and Cogsy forecast stock; Numeral and Avalara file tax. Powerful, narrow, and expensive to stack.

Fragility signal — even funded "done-for-you" breaks

Bench, a VC-backed bookkeeping service, abruptly shut down in Dec 2024 — stranding 12,000+ small businesses despite raising $100M+.

The closest competitor, and its ceiling — Finaloop unifies P&L, reconciliation, COGS, and tax — but it is fundamentally a managed bookkeeping service with human accountants in the loop, priced $245–$1,900+/mo plus an $850 setup fee, wrong-fit for sub-$50k stores, with no customer invoicing, no shipping module, no self-serve AI copilot, and no concept of Pakistan's tax or payment reality.

05The Gap We Own

Three empty intersections, one product

Accountanics is defined by three gaps that no competitor sits inside simultaneously. Owning all three at once is the whole idea.

01

GAP 01 · Unified, not stitched

All six finance-ops pillars in one data model — so profit, inventory, tax and shipping share one source of truth instead of five reconciled exports.

02

GAP 02 · Self-serve & SMB-priced

Software a founder installs and operates themselves, priced for a first-year store — not a $245+/mo accountant service or a $2,000+/mo enterprise ERP.

03

GAP 03 · Pakistan-fluent, global-ready

Multi-currency payouts, COD, FBR/provincial tax and the 2025 withholding regime handled natively — on an engine built to add any country.

Positioning —for the Shopify founder who can't see their real profit, Accountanics is the one app that runs the money side of the business — unified where others are fragmented, self-serve where others are services, and built for their market where others are built for someone else's.

06The Solution

Accountanics, and its three heroes

One platform (Next.js web + React Native mobile) that connects to a merchant's Shopify store, ingests every order, cost, fee, and payout in near-real-time, and turns that stream into decisions.

HERO 01 · SEE

Real-time unified P&L

the true-profit engine

A live profit & loss that nets every cost a founder forgets: COGS snapshotted at the moment of sale, Shopify Payments fees from actual payouts, shipping charged vs. paid, refunds, ad spend, app fees, and Pakistan's 1%/2% withholding and FX drag. Sliceable to the individual SKU and order.

HERO 02 · RUN

Model-aware ERP

inventory that adapts to the business

The system knows whether a SKU is dropshipped (virtual stock, per-order supplier cost), private label (tracked stock, purchase orders, reorder points), or hybrid, and computes cost, stock health, and profit correctly for each.

HERO 03 · DECIDE

AI Ops Copilot

+ workflow engine

Ask your business anything in plain language, answered safely over your own data through a read-only, allow-listed query layer — never raw LLM SQL. Automate the follow-through with a trigger → action workflow builder.

Surrounding the heroes, five supporting modules complete the ERP: invoicing on custom (FBR-ready) letterhead, a multi-jurisdiction tax engine, an expenses ledger that flows into P&L, a shipping rules engine that exposes under/over-charged deliveries, and manual orders/inventory for the off-Shopify reality.

See it as a founder would.

Who we build for

Three grounded personas, drawn from the real Shopify-Pakistan seller base. Each has a job Accountanics does that no current tool does.

Z
Zainab
The cross-border dropshipper
Solo founder · Shopify store selling to US/UK · Payoneer payouts · Lahore
My Shopify says I did $9,000 this month. My Payoneer balance says something totally different. I have no idea what I actually kept.

Job: Reconcile supplier cost, ad spend, Shopify fees and FX drag into one honest net-profit number, per product, without a spreadsheet.

Today

The private-label brand builder
2-person team · stocked inventory · imports from China · domestic + export sales · Karachi
I've had $6,000 of stock sitting in a room for three months and a best-seller that's been out of stock for two weeks. I find out too late, every time.

Job: Know real per-unit landed COGS, current stock health, and when to reorder — plus issue compliant invoices to B2B buyers.

Today
Excel + WhatsApp.
With Accountanics
Reorder alerts, landed-cost margins, and FBR-ready invoices from one place.
S
Sana
The hybrid COD seller
Small team · domestic COD-heavy · mixed dropship/stocked SKUs · Islamabad
Half my orders are cash-on-delivery, couriers deduct fees and now a 2% tax, returns are brutal, and I still don't know which orders make money.

Job: Handle COD economics — courier fees, the new 2% withholding, high return rates — across a mix of dropship and stocked SKUs.

Today
No tool models this.
With Accountanics
COD-aware profit, withholding tracked automatically, shipping cost vs. charged surfaced per zone.
08Feature Scope

What we build, honestly bounded

A 3–4 person, two-semester FYP earns credibility by being ambitious and honest about its boundaries. We commit to a working, demo-able core; build selected bonus features if pace allows; and design — but do not fully implement — a clear roadmap.

Scope philosophy — Every "core" row is independently demo-able and maps to a persona's job. Bonus rows are genuinely optional. Roadmap rows are documented with data models and mockups, proving vision without over-promising delivery.

09Why This Wins

The case for the award

A winning FYP is real, hard, differentiated, and well-told. Accountanics is engineered to score on every axis an examiner weighs.

01

Real problem

Solves a documented, expensive pain — profit-blindness — backed by hard third-party evidence and a live external integration (Shopify).

02

Technical depth

Event-driven multi-tenant sync with idempotency and reconciliation, a financial calculation engine, safe LLM-over-database, cross-platform web+mobile.

03

Differentiation

The six-pillar matrix is a single slide that makes the "no one does this" argument undeniable — and the Pakistan-first angle only this team can tell.

04

2026 relevance

Rides the AI-ops wave responsibly — an AI copilot for the under-served SMB segment, with a safety architecture that shows engineering maturity.

05

Craft

Modern stack, real deployed apps (web on Vercel, mobile via Expo), and a clean design system. Feels like a startup, not a course submission.

06

Commercial legs

Clear users, a pricing wedge, and a market — the kind of project that continues past graduation.

Every plan is monitored and controlled from our own backend portal.

Accountanics is multi-tenant from day one. Our internal team runs a separate admin surface to onboard merchants, gate features by plan, watch usage and MRR in real time, and step in when a tenant needs support — the operational backbone that makes "self-serve SaaS" actually operable.

11Go-to-Market

How it reaches founders

Beyond the FYP demo, Accountanics has a coherent commercial path — worth articulating because it strengthens the vision and answers the inevitable 'and then what?' question.

1

Wedge

Launch to the Pakistani Shopify / dropshipping / private-label community — reachable through active seller networks, Facebook groups, and the mentorship ecosystems around Amazon-FBA and Shopify education.

2

Model

Freemium SaaS: a free tier gated by order volume to drive adoption, paid tiers for higher volume, workflows, and multi-store. Distributed as a Shopify public app.

3

Expansion

The multi-currency, multi-jurisdiction engine is the moat: once it handles Pakistan, adding UAE, KSA, Bangladesh, or the US/EU is configuration, not rebuild.

12Risks, Limits & Ethics

What we're honest about

Naming limitations is a strength in a research report. These are ours, with mitigations.

RiskRealityMitigation
COGS accuracyShopify only exposes current unit cost, not cost-at-time-of-sale.Snapshot unit cost at ingestion; let merchants set landed cost.
Ad spend gapAd spend lives in Meta/Google, not Shopify — true net needs it.CSV import in core; live ad-API on roadmap, clearly labelled in UI.
Non-Shopify-Payments feesPayPal/other-gateway fees aren't exposed at Shopify's granularity.Merchant-defined fee rules as fallback; native payout data where used.
Tax precisionTax law changes; secondary sources vary.Rates are configurable data; figures verified against primary FBR SROs.
Scope creepAn ERP is genuinely large for 3–4 people.Strict core/bonus/roadmap split; each core module ships independently.
Data privacyWe handle merchants' financial data.Encryption at rest, tenant isolation, mandatory data-protection webhooks.

Market-size and merchant-count figures in this report are third-party estimates presented as ranges; Pakistan tax rates should be re-verified against primary FBR SRO text before any formal compliance claim. This transparency is deliberate.
